Social Exclusion/Inclusion : Awareness is the Key: Shannon & District Area Network recently commissioned this report and held workshops with community and voluntary groups in the area to raise understanding and awareness of the complex issues surrounding this topic. Report indicates that while the region is outwardly perceived as being prosperous there are high levels of sufferance and deprivation and isolation within the region. These need to be fully identified and specific measurable actions put in place to address. Report highlights to its audience what is involved in Social Inclusion and Social Exclusion and that acceptance and understanding of the problem is the first step to addressing issues. Shannon Area Network, and the Clare Community Forum, as public platforms, need to work with their local community groups to implement recommendations as outlined in the report.
