Play Policy Launched by Clare Local Authorities The Play Policy and Action Plan for Clare has been prepared by the Strategic Policy Committee for Community and Cultural Development under the Chairmanship of Councillor Michael Hillery MCC. This policy resulted from an extensive consultation process over a lengthy period involving parents, children, schools, resident groups, community groups and agencies. The policy adheres to national guidelines and best practice, as outlined in the National Play Policy ‘Ready, Steady, Play’, launched in March 2004. Clare Local Authorities currently provide a range of play facilities across its service areas and departments. This policy will inform the development of existing and new playgrounds and play areas in the county. The policy and action plan will be monitored by an implementation group, representative of Clare Local Authorities and the community and voluntary sector. Guidelines will be produced to assist community groups who wish to develop playgrounds / play areas. |
