Seachtain na Gaeilge 2006
Friday, March 3rd hosts the launch of two important Clare events.
The Traditional Group Residency and Seachtain na Gaeilge will both
be officially launched at a special concert in Glór Irish
Music Centre on March 3rd at 8pm.
To launch the Seachtain na Gaeilge 2006 programme of events, Oifig
na Gaeilge and the Clare County Arts Office (of Clare County Council)
have organised this concert in Glór Irish Music Centre on
March 3rd next. The first act is comprised of the winners of the
widely advertised “Composition Competition”, which showcases
creative and talented minds from around the county. Such was the
interest in the competition that the closing date was extended to
February 22nd. The second act will feature the new Traditional Group
Residency of the Clare Arts Office.
Seachtain na Gaeilge 2006 will take place between March 4th and
17th of this year. Every year hundreds throughout the county partake
in various events, and 2006 is no exception. A programme of events,
which include tours of Clare Museum for primary schools, given by
Tomás MacConmara, scéalaíocht in all branch
libraries, organised by the Library service, and lectures on various
topics have been organised. Further details are available from the
Seachtain na Gaeilge website or from Oifig na Gaeilge on (065) 6846222.
Tickets for this spectacular concert on March 3rd can be booked
at the Glór box office on (065) 6843103. It promises to be
a night of high quality entertainment, a night, not to be missed!
