BA, HDE - Retired Teacher. Sport Horse Breeder. P. J. is a member of Clare County Council for over 30 years.

He is involved in many community organisations. He has an interest in local history. Latent energy.

P. J. is currently Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Strategic Policy Committee.

He has been Chairman of County Clare VEC from 1999 to 2004.

He was Vice-Chairman of Clare County Council from 1995 to 1997, and Chairman of the Council from 1997 to 1999.

P. J. is Clare County Council's nominee on the Governing Body of NUIG.

Patricia McCarthy, a widow with three sons, lives in Shannon. A member of Clare County Council she is Chairperson of the Strategic Policy Committee on the Environment, Emergency Services and Consumer Affairs. Patricia is also a member and former Cathaoirleach of Shannon Town Council.

As Past President and member of the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland she has been involved at National Level in negotiations and implementation of Local Government reform. She is a member of the National Economic Social Forum.

She is Chairperson of 2 Joint Labour Committees of the Labour Court.

Patricia McCarthy is a Director and Honorary Secretary of Shannon Swimming & Leisure Centre Co. Ltd.

Cllr Joe Arkins - Clare County Childcare Committee

Cllr. Joe Arkins - Chair of the Health Implementation Group

Cllr. Joe Arkins is living in Ruan; he is married to Concepta and has two children, Eimear and Conor. He is a member of Clare County Council since 1999 and is a Parents Representative and Chairman of the Clare County Childcare Committee.

Cllr. Arkins is a former Branch Secretary with SIPTU and works for the Mid Western Health Board as a Clinical Nurse Manager in the Community Mental Health Service. He is also a part time farmer.


Alec Fleming - Clare County Manager

Alec Fleming - Chair of the Economic IG

Alec Fleming was appointed County Manager of Clare County Council on the 2nd April 2002. Prior to his appointment to Clare County Council he spent 6 years as Assistant County Manager in Mayo County Council.

He has also worked in Kilkenny, Galway and South Tipperary County Councils. He is a native of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and was educated in St. Flannan’s College, Ennis. He has a BA in Public Administration.
